How these guides were prepared

CAPA’s guides help Malaysian business owners organise information, understand common accounting questions and prepare for useful conversations. They are educational resources, not individual tax, legal or accounting opinions.

Source checks and accuracy

We’ve taken reasonable steps to verify the cited sources and check the information in these guides as at 24 September 2026. We can’t guarantee 100% accuracy, completeness or that the information remains up to date. Rules, guidance and individual circumstances can change.

These guides provide general information and do not replace professional accounting, tax or legal advice tailored to your circumstances. Before making a decision, check the current requirements and seek appropriate advice for your situation.

Regulatory explanations use the cited HASiL, SSM, Customs, MOF, KWSP and Ministry of Human Resources materials. Relevant provisions and examples were checked; worked arithmetic and date intervals were recalculated. Public provider pages support their own advertised prices and scope, not a market average or recommendation.

Source links sit beside the relevant explanations. Each guide also includes a source list. Government documents can be amended or moved, so use the dated source and its applicable conditions when assessing a later transaction.

Examples and scope

Fictional case studies are labelled. Their businesses, prices, actions and results are teaching assumptions, not CAPA client outcomes. Product descriptions come from documents; no hands-on software trial is claimed.

The articles keep thresholds, exclusions, effective dates and calculation assumptions together. A result under the example’s facts is not an automatic conclusion for every business.

Two limits to keep visible

The capital-allowance guide uses the existing two-year rules. The reviewed HASiL FAQ still marks the announced one-year enhancement as awaiting a gazette order; the example does not rely on that enhancement.

The rental service-tax guide follows the later policy’s stated bands. Exactly RM1 million is omitted from those bands. Earlier rental periods or existing exemption evidence under older inclusive RM1.5 million wording require their own assessment. The guide does not invent a regulator’s answer.

CAPA’s role

CAPA means Clear Accounts, Practical Advice. These guides and worksheets are intended to make accounting information more useful. Named commercial providers are source examples, not representations of CAPA partners. No provider credentials, service capacity, client testimonials or guaranteed outcomes are asserted on their behalf.

The worksheets can be printed or downloaded without supplying personal information. They do not calculate statutory eligibility or store your completed records.

Maintaining the collection

Revisit a guide when its official sources, effective dates, prices or product features change. Record the change and the new source-check date. Preserve material qualifications rather than removing them to make an answer appear more certain.
