Invitation to register: Towards a Sustainable Future Forum

Published date: December 3, 2021

This Forum is organised by IFAC and the MOSAIC Steering committee to highlight the importance of PFM and supporting the public sector as it transitions to accrual or broader PFM.

The COVID 19 pandemic highlighted the vulnerabilities of public finances and infrastructure across the globe. The COVID-19 pandemic has put a spotlight on structural problems existing in many jurisdictions and is a wake-up call to accelerate the transition to a more sustainable and inclusive global economy that can achieve the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

The accountancy profession has an important role to play in achieving a more sustainable future by supporting strong PFM that enables better decisions for people, the planet, and the economy. The Towards a Sustainable Future Forum will provide you with an overview of the tools and resources available to support a transparent and accountable public sector. The forum will also highlight the importance of establishing a sustainability reporting framework and will consider the impact of the adoption and implementation of the international auditing standards in addressing an evolving and increasingly complex environment.

As we move out of the global pandemic and tackle economic and climate crises within our countries and regions, PAOs have a wider public interest role and can (with their members) play a strong advocacy role in advising and helping governments to build their financial capacities and capabilities. However, tackling global issues requires collaborative efforts in each jurisdiction – development partners are key to supporting both governments and PAOs in these efforts. CAPA is delighted to support the IFAC MOSAIC Towards a Sustainable  Future Forum to discuss these issues.  The Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka, one of CAPA’s members will also share insights into their strategic and operational decision-making processes, in their journey to engage with the public sector.
