CAPA have 2 ordinary members in India, the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India and the Institute of Cost and Works Accountants of India.
The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India
Established by an Act of Parliment for the purpose of regulating the profession of Chartered Accountants in India. ICAI came into existence on 1 July 1949 with the passing of the Chartered Accountants Act,1949. ICAI has a membership of over 100,000 members and about 200,000 students.
The ICAI functions through a network of 5 Regional offices and 105 Branches. The Institute also has 15 Chapters outside India and an office in Dubai. The Examinations of the Institute are held every six months at about 173 centres spread over 95 cities across the country besides Kathmandu and Dubai.
