IFAC is the global organisation for the accountancy profession. IFAC's mission is to serve the public interest by:
- Contributing to the development, adoptin, and implementation of high-quality international standards and guidance
- Contributing to the development of strong professional accountancy organisations and accounting firms, and to high-quality practices by professional accountants
- Promoting the value of professional accountants worldwide
- Speaking out on public interest issues where the accountancy profession's expertise is most relevant
IFAC works with its 164 members and associates in 125 countries and jurisdictions via special commitees and independent standard-setting boards.
The IFAC Board is responsible for setting policy, and overseeing IFAC operations, implementation of programs and the work of the committees and independent standard-setting boards. The IFAC Board meets 4 times a year to carry out its duties and responsibilities.
