Deferment of CAPA meetings and events in 2020

Published date: May 19, 2020

In the recent weeks and months, CAPA have been proactively dealing with the evolving Coronavirus (COVID-19) situation nationally, regionally and globally. The health and wellness of our staff, volunteers and other stakeholders is and remains a priority.

Meetings and related events originally planned for Cambodia and Mongolia in April and May respectively were postponed. At this stage, due to anticipated international travel restrictions, it is not expected that any in-person meetings and related events will occur in the remainder of 2020, including visits in August and October to Papua New Guinea and Sri Lanka respectively. Working with the host organisations, consideration will be given to rescheduling these meetings to 2021 or beyond.

Accordingly, the 20th CAPA Conference, an international event planned for October in Sri Lanka has been cancelled, with a current intention to reschedule to October 2021 – a decision taken in conjunction with the host, the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka.

Various virtual meetings have occurred over the last two months to progress the work of the Board and the working committees and groups, with many more such meetings expected throughout the rest of the year. These virtual meetings, usual online conferencing platform, have progressed extremely well – setting the foundation for increased use of this technology as CAPA moves forward.

A list of confirmed and expected virtual meetings is available on the CAPA website as follows:
