CAPA 2020 Annual Review now available

Published date: March 8, 2021

2020 was an unparalleled year and the 2020 Annual Review, unique in this regard.

While there was much uncertainty at the start of the year, CAPA has managed to thrive and in particular, our move into the digital space was clearly accelerated.  This has presented CAPA with the opportunity, including in collaboration with its members and other stakeholders where relevant; to stage more meetings, continue and further progress projects and initiatives, and increase engagements.

Working within the challenges and impacts presented by a year defined by the health pandemic, as Dr Chen, CAPA President who was elected at the end of 2019 sums up “I … was keen to lead and bring together the CAPA family as we call it. The health pandemic has not changed that, just the way we have to do it.”

The 2020 Annual Review documents how CAPA is maintaining its momentum in executing our Strategic Plan – Towards 2025, which was reconfirmed by the Board, and looks at how we have remained agile and resilient in a year like no other.

CAPA Chief Executive, Brian Blood, reported that “As I now look back on the whole year, it is clear that we have done much more than just survive – we have thrived.”

CAPA President, Dr Chen Yugui added, “During 2020 we have made excellent progress in these areas of focus: the development of professional accountancy organisations; the improvement of public sector financial management; and addressing emerging and contemporary matters in the areas of audit and ethics.”

“Collaboration is so important. As we move into 2021, CAPA will seek increased opportunities to collaborate with members and other stakeholders to advance the accountancy profession in Asia Pacific,” he added.

CAPA enters 2021 with a deep commitment to complete ongoing projects, many of which are envisaged to stimulate important conversations to progress the accountancy profession in Asia Pacific.
