Call for Nominations issued - candidates for Independent Standard-Setting Boards in 2018

9 November 2016

The Call for Nominations for the following independent standard-setting boards was issued recently, providing opportunities for membership on the following boards:

  • International Auditing and Assurance Standards Board (IAASB)
  • International Accounting Education Standards Board (IAESB)
  • International Ethics Standards Board for Accountants (IESBA)
  • International Public Sector Accounting Standards Board (IPSASB)

For 2018, there are 26 vacancies - 7 each on the IAASB, IAESB and IESBA, and 5 on the IPSASB. Current members can be re-nominated for 17 of these vacancies if considered appropriate. These volunteer vacancies on the boards are open for nominations by all stakeholders, including professional accountancy organisations (PAOs) and international organisations, governmental agencies, firms and the public. Nominations of non-accountants for the public member vacancies are strongly encouraged.

CAPA encourages PAOs in the region to work with stakeholders to consider nominating suitable candidates where positions are available. This is an exceptional opportunity for anyone within and outside of the profession to make a difference on the global stage to ensure that high quality standards are developed to safeguard the public interest and the accountancy profession.

All those interested should review the Call for Nominations, including detailed information regarding open vacancies, composition targets, specific membership qualifications and requirements. Nominations can be submitted through the Nominations Database before 31 January 2017.
