CAPA is pleased to announce Dr. In Ki Joo as the new CAPA President, whom will be taking over office from Kamlesh Vikamsey for the term November 2009 to October 2011. He was Deputy President from October 2007 to October 2009 and has served as a Board member of CAPA since July 2004.

Dr. Joo is a Professor of Accounting at the School of Business in Yonsei University Seoul, Korea. He is also the Dean of the University College and Dean of Academic Affairs at the Yonsei University. He graduated from Yonsei University and received his MBA and Ph.D. in accounting from the Graduate School of Business Administration of Seoul National University, Korea and New York University, U.S.A. Dr. Joo is qualified with the Korean Institute of Certified Public Accountants (KICPA) and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA), and is a member of both institutes.

Dr. Joo is also very active in roles related to the accountancy profession through involvement in committees and board of various organizations throughout the period of 1987 to 2009 like the International Accounting Standards Board (IASB), Korean Accounting Standards Board (KASB), Institute of Korea Securities Supervisory Commission, Institute of Financial Supervisory Commission, and the Korea Listed Companies Association. He is currently auditor for the Christian Broadcasting System Board of Directors, and a Board member and Chairman of the Audit Committee of LG Electronics. He also served as the President of Korean Accounting Association, President of Korean Academic Society of Business Administration, Vice President of International Affairs at the KICPA and a technical advisor at the Board of the International Federation of Accountants (IFAC).

Apart from 24 years of experience in teaching and academics, Dr. Joo also wrote many Korean and English articles especially in the financial accounting area. He also published many Korean books including the “Principles of Financial Accounting” and “Theory of Financial Accounting Standards”. He received several awards including an Honor from the Deputy Prime Minister and the Ministry of Finance and Economy and awarded the Excellent Achievement by the President of Republic of Korea. He was also awarded the Distinguished Professor by Samil (PWC) and Best Teacher by Yonsei University. In 2009, he was awarded Chair Professor at the Ulaanbaatar University in Mongolia.

The CAPA Board is proud to have Dr. Joo on board and is confident that he will bring much new insights with his vast knowledge and experience. Past President, Kamlesh Vikamsey, was delighted to pass over the leadership to Dr. Joo knowing that CAPA will be in able hands and will soar to greater heights as a Recognised Regional Organisation.
